There is some confusion that the fight for RNZ Concert has been won. It most certainly has not.

Paul Thompson, CEO of RNZ, has given the RNZ Concert team a matter of weeks to come up with a plan to increase their audience base, and in essence, save RNZ Concert. This follows Mr Thompson’s failed attempt to move RNZ Concert to AM. It should be noted that RNZ Concert already has an impressive listenership and that RNZ has over the years substantially decreased the staffing and budget for RNZ Concert.

Now the issue moves on beyond the securing of the frequency, which has happened, to what is the fate of the staff? What is the fate of the programming? If we just have, to use the words of SOUNZ, ‘Jukebox on FM’ we’re frankly not a lot further ahead.” ~ Helen Clark

Help us save this national taonga. Tune in to RNZ Concert, follow RNZ Concert on Facebook and Twitter, and join the community discussion on the "Save RNZ Concert" Facebook group.
